The magnificent stone walls of the Parador de Gredos, the first of the Paradores, have been entrenched since 1928 amidst the crystalline waters, rugged rocks and green pine woods of the Sierra de Gredos mountains. Inside, the rustic décor creates an atmosphere that is both cozy and stately. There, on an elevated area known as the Alto del Risquillo, the majestic building offers beautiful panoramic views of the Tormes Valley, Sierra de Piedrahita mountains and Béjar, and Gredos Massif. The hotel is the perfect starting point for excursions to unique spots such as Puerto del Pico, where you will find one of the best preserved Roman roads in Spain. It is the ideal place to relax and enjoy the regional gastronomy, famous for delicious beans from El Barco and beef chops.
In the surrounding area, you can hike mountain trails, including one that will take you up to Circo de Gredos, a glacial cirque from which you can enjoy a view of Almanzor Peak and Laguna Grande de Gredos, a mountain pool. Another equally beautiful spot is the cirque known as Cinco Lagunas. Arenas de San Pedro is a little more than 30 minutes away by car. This lovely town is known for its cultural and historical heritage, and for Águila Caves, one of the marvels of the Tiétar Valley.
